Easy Homemade Tiffin Easter Eggs Recipe

Have you wanted to make your own Easter eggs? Have you been put off due to the faff of the process of lining chocolate molds? Well then these Tiffin eggs are for you. They’re chocolaty with a biscuit crunch and very easy to make. In fact they use just 3 or 4 simple ingredients! These are chocolate eggs made easy, but none the less delicious for it. I chose to coat them in chocolate but you can just as easily leave them without, for even less faff!

The range of free-from Easter eggs is so much better than it used to be. But there is something extra reassuring about making your own. It’s also a fun activity in the run up to Easter. These little Tiffin eggs are great to make with kids and adults alike.

You may think, why should i make my own Easter eggs when you just buy them. Well, I guarantee these will taste even better. Plus, you’ll get that little joy to giving something handmade to someone you love. 🙂

You can use any chocolate you like; I’ve chosen to use dark chocolate and i like the results. If you do use dark chocolate then I’d recommend adding the tsp of syrup. If you’re using a creamier chocolate then you don’t need to add any syrup.

Easy Homemade Tiffin Easter Eggs

dairy-free, egg-free, nut-free, soya-free, sesame-free, can be gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan
Prep Time 20 minutes
Servings: 8

Ingredients
  

  • 60 g biscuits crushed into crumbs
  • 50 g chocolate your favourite
  • 30 ml dairy-free cream (2 tbsp)
  • 1 tsp syrup only if using dark chocolate
to coat (optional)
  • 60 g chocolate
  • 5 g cocoa butter or coconut oil optional

Equipment

  • 1 silicone mat or sheet of non-stick parchment

Method
 

  1. Finely crush the biscuit crumbs
  2. melt together the chocolate and cream (and syrup, if using)
  3. stir in the biscuit crumbs and leave to cool
  4. take spoonfuls and shape into egg shapes. Place in the fridge to set
  5. if coating in chocolate; melt or temper the chocolate and stir in the melted cocoa butter or coconut oil (if using)
  6. dip the tiffin eggs into the melted chocolate and then place on the mat or paper to set.
